Your honest opinion should not include reading what others say first... so please give it a try.Adoptees, what are the first three adjectives you think of when you hear ';adoptive parent';?
Like mine were compassionate; selfless and loveAdoptees, what are the first three adjectives you think of when you hear ';adoptive parent';?
hmmm. SOME, not ALL, are greedy, self absorbed and obsessive.
others are loving, caring and selfless.
the ones who advertise make me want to barf.
I think of terms of being thankful for my adopted parents, and being thankful for my birth mom- when I think of them all I think LOVE
Well, adjectives aren't at all what come to mind. What comes to mind is my own adoptive mom, whom I love and miss deeply, by the way.
Why would I carry descriptors in my mind for a bunch of people I don't even know? I'm sorry that I'm finding the question somewhat confusing.
ETA:
After reading your additional comments, I'll just add that the discussion about adoption language is very real in terms of what we're up against in the fight for reform. It's a different issue.
strict-loving-understanding
mom, dad, infertility
donkey butts donkey butts donkey butts...thats what mine are
Honestly, I don't think of any adjectives. I don't find it helpful to lump a group of people together as all being something or another.
