What is the best way to deal with grief after the loss of a parent?

it was a mother in lawWhat is the best way to deal with grief after the loss of a parent?
My father died unexpectedly when I was just 20. I had to plan the funeral and make all the arrangements. At that time I wasn't able to ';grieve';. It wasn't until it had all settled down and it was just me sitting by his grave did it all hit me.

I cry when I want to, I have every right to. I lost a very important man in my life. Let yourself go through the emotions that you feel. Even now I get mad at him for leaving me and not being a Grandfather to my children.I seem to miss him more with Christmas and his Birthday coming. My biggest fear is that someday I know that he will be forgotten, my children and my Husband never met him and I am the one to keep his memory alive.

For a LONG time I couldn't even look at pictures of him and now (8 years later) I do keep one in my car. Just do the best that you can.

As time goes on the emotion does seem more controllable but it never does ';get easier'; you will always miss her.

Please don't listen to the person who make the comment about it being your mother in law. You loved this person and have every right to grieve.

My Prayers are with you and Your Family..What is the best way to deal with grief after the loss of a parent?
Mother in law.....where's the grief come in?
