14Illinois question about children living with a parent?
i would say about 14
its 16 years, 16 years old considered as adult so he is able to decide legally
I asked this question of my lawyer in IL just a couple of years ago. I was told that around 14 the judge actually listens to what the child has to say. Make sure that the child feels comfortable with talking to the judge though or they may go in and blow it by saying what you or your spouse wants to hear instead of what they really want. At 16, the child can then have a job and not really even have to visit the other parent if they don't really want to.

Good luck. From my understanding, the judge usually sides with the mom unless there is neglect or drugs involved.
You have to be 18 to decide who you want to live with.

But, ';not'; in your parents house. %26lt;}:-})
The age is 13, but they will ask the child who they want to live with no matter what the age, it just isn't up to the chile, it's up to the court based on who the Judge determines is more fit, until the age of 13.
You can choose which parent at 13. You will get your wish granted only if both parents want you and both parents are deemed ';fit';. If you want to move out of the house that's a whole other story.
