and do most jobs accept them?Im 16 and i want my lip pierced..do piercing shops require you to have a parent or guardian with you?
ok. i started getting pierced at 17 because in NY the law is:
-16 and under require parental consent
-at 17 you just need valid ID and no genital piercings(under age) BUT many places chose not to do so
-18 do whatever you want
And the only facial piercing I have is my septum which I keep flipped up for jobs but I have 10 visible ear piercings and I've had problems finding jobs in the past. Also, any place that pierces 16 or under without parental consent is willing to break the law and if they're willing to break the law about something like that, you never know what else they're willing to break the law on. Be careful. A tattoo/piercing place in Buffalo NY was just all over the news for using dirty needles and anyone that got work done there had to be tested for HIV and Hepatitus and several people were positive. Is it really worth it? Just something to think about.Im 16 and i want my lip pierced..do piercing shops require you to have a parent or guardian with you?
some shops are diffrent. i know in my area you only have to be sixteen to do whatever you want with out a parent or guardian. but i know other places that require you to have your parent/guardian there. so if the thing is that you don't want your parents to know right away, talk to the shop first and find out what their policy is. then if parents are necessary, either tell your parents or live w.o your lip pierced haha and about the job thing, if your working in a coffee shop im sure its fine, but if you plan on going into a professional office they usually dont care for that lol
Just think about this before you do it:
If you ever decide you don't want the lip piercing anymore and remove it....after it heals you will have a dark spot where it was.
Most jobs in gas stations and convenience stores won't mind you having one, but beyond that I don't think many employers would hire you with mouth jewelry.
I do believe under 18 you need parental permission, but you could check at the piercing place....just phone them.
I'm not telling you not to do it....I'm just suggesting some things you might not have considered to help you make your decision. Good luck :))
As far as I know you have to be at least 18. Another thought for you and your parents is, who covers the medical expenses if your piercing was to get infected?
First appearance say volumes when applying for a job. You probably shouldn't wear your ring to a job interview.
My daughter had piercings done but when she pursued a job in law enforcement she had to let the holes close up.
if you look 18 then they will do it without a parent i think but most peircing shops require 16 year olds to be with there mam or dad. you could just lie and say your 18 and they would do it. i went without my parents so the store rang mymam to ask my age so they might do that.
yes yur not an adult to 18 so you will need them to go with you. but i love alip ring i'm sure it's gonna look super cute! are you gonna get in the middle just asking thats where i think it looks best! good luck!
Yes you have to have one or the other with you. I live in PA and you do, but other states do the same thing i don't know, but you should just to be safe.
don't do it, they look ridiculous, and lowers your position in society
