What website can i find info on that sort of thing? I heard that a person can move out of their parents house at 17 if they let their parents know where it is that they're going, is that true? Whats up with this?!Is it legal to move out of your parent's house at 17?
There are too many variables including location, circumstances, and a few other things. If enough criteria are met, then yes. If not, then no.
Location: laws vary by location.
Marriage: regardless of age, married individuals are treated as majors and not minors. A married 10 year old does not have to do what parents say.
Age of majority versus age of emancipation. Oklahoma has confusing laws and traditions. The age of emancipation is known to be 18. The age of majority is still 21. In short, you are treated as an adult though you are not recognized as an adult at 18.
Court issued emancipation: provided you have legal counsel and good reason and means of support, you can petition the courts for emancipation. You will still be a minor, but you will be treated as an adult. You have to have a reason. You have to be able to support yourself. If you have a good reason but cannot show that you can support yourself then you may simply be placed in another home.
Too many other things. If you have a good reason, seek legal counsel. If not, then wait. It's not as bad as it seems in most cases. In others, get help.Is it legal to move out of your parent's house at 17?
i think you have to go through a court process to be legally separated from your parents...but without this you can probably just move out on your own, but you will still be considered under your parents' rule and they will technically own your place of residence.
Until you are 18 years old your parents are responsible for you, and to some degree, your actions. You CAN move out at 17 years old, IF you petition the court for emancipation. That means you go to court with your parents, and you ask that you be held responsible for your own actions, your own utilities, rent, food . . . and that your parents no longer be held responsible for you. Your parents do NOT have to agree with you, BUT you have to prove to the judge that you have a stable job, and are capable of making due on your own, in order to be emancipated (and even then, he/she may tell you to just wait a year).
You really have to state where you live as laws differ across the world.
whati have herd is dat u cud move out after u turn 16 but until ur 18 u need a signature sum shyt like dat frum dem
It depends on the state you live in. At 18 join the military that will get you out of there house provide money shelter and food and even schooling if you desire.
If you are not being physically abused hold out the year finish high school and then move on.
Depends on ya' state emancipation laws!!!
Here in Colorado we have no emancipation laws!!! Ya' stuck till min' of 18 yrs.!!!
Look up emancipation laws for ya' state!!!
The grass isn't always greener on the other side!!!
I was 17 when I moved out and I was classified as ';legally emancipated';. My mom didn't have to sign anything, but if I would have gotten into any trouble with the authorities, then I would have had to move back home and mom would have been held responsible.
Go figure.
Difficult to answer.Seems like some think it is for a bad reason you ask. Could this be a ';just curious'; question, or if it is a problem you're trying to get away from question, it depends. Just a little too vague for a definite answer...you could call the cop shop business, not emergency, line and ask.
if you can prove that you are responsible-support yourself with a job-some states allow that. if it is because you are whining about them giving you too many rules-suck it up and wait until your are 18.
It differs from State to State. The day you become an adult by law you can move out and they also lose any legal rights to make decisions for you. Google ';Age of Majority'; for your state. But it is probably 18 and in some states 19.
My oldest sister did, but my moms had to sign a paper authorizing the person she went to live with to get her health care and take care of her
you have to be 18 or older
Yeah, but why?
it is true in Georgia. depends on where u live i'm sure.
You have to be 18 to do it without permission. If they give you permission before, I would have them sign something stating so incase they decide later it wasn't the right decision and send the police after you. How will you possibly support yourself?
i tried that at 17 also! you cant legally move out of your parents house UNLESS you have THEIR permission. u are still considered a minor so they are responsible for you until your 18th birthday. if you are 17, u dont have much longer, be patient!
no, you are your parents responsibility until you are mature enough to take of yourself mentally and physically!
I moved out at 16 in the pouring rain, it just depends!
Check your local state laws. Should have a website for that.
It's unlawful, and you will be given ';runaway'; status. What you should do is contact a social worker, and ask them what you can do. You don't have to give your name, just tell them you need advice anonymously.
