If a kid has text on their phone is there a way the parent can read them?

Other than taking the phone at least. Someone told me there was a website they could go to but I don't know if that is true. If there is a website please give me the address. Thanks! If a kid has text on their phone is there a way the parent can read them?
Never heard of this feature, but I *have* heard of features that uses the GPS tracker in the phone to alert you if your kid leaves a certain area, such as summer camp or school grounds and such.

It's never as easy as just using a website. Text is sent straight through the phone network and thus the website would have to be able to tap into every single provider's text network, and the privacy concerns are enormous.

Easier to get a ';parental control phone';. I think Sanyo has such a phone, offered by Sprint.
